Use the greater knowledge of atoms to design better materials!

The origin

QM4Mat is a spin-off company of an EU project called “QM-FORMa, Designing new materials with quantum mechanics”. The project was funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Raw Materials. The project had five partners: Uppsala University (Sweden), Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), University Milano-Bicocca (Italy), Radboud University (The Netherlands) and the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden). The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) was the leader of QM-FORMa. Read more  http://www.qm-forma.com

The virtual laboratory

QM4Mat offers property-driven-research services based on quantum mechanical modeling to accelerate the development of new materials that are tailored to specific needs.

The potential impact of QM4Mat services is faster innovation rates and better products. Companies can gain a competitive edge by finding substitute materials to materials that are scarce, expensive or potentially toxic.

Let us walk you through the process of working with us.

The case

Do you have an issue concerning the design of a material? Are you insecure about whether your issue can be solved by modelling? Send us an email and we will book an appointment to discuss your challenge.

Planning

We will meet your research team and help you define your problem. If we find that we can assist you by using modelling techniques, then further meetings can be arranged to understand the problem in more detail, determine what avenue to follow.

OUR RESEARCHERS

Modelling/Calculations

Depending on the time-scale for these investigations we can set up quantum mechanical calculations for any material or a series of materials, then calculate specific properties of interest to help you to solve your problem.

CASE STORIES

Delivering solutions

By analyzing our results we will be able to deliver a solution. Since computer modelling can be viewed as a ’virtual laboratory’ your solution can be a pre-study over a wide range of materials to narrow down the possibilities to few candidates. The solution to your problem may also be the understanding of a property that can be used to tune your products.
